Overview

Azerbaijan has initiated several high-level discussions regarding the intersection of artificial intelligence, media, and international security.

In August 2026, the Azerbaijan Press Council hosted a conference focused on the impact of generative AI on the media sector. The event addressed the opportunities and risks of these technologies, contributing to the development of research databases and ethical guidelines for media organizations.

Following this, plans were announced for the second International Conference on Cyber Diplomacy (ICCD 2026) to be held in Baku in November. Co-organized with Romanian researchers, the conference will examine ‘Power and Influence in the Era of Artificial Intelligence’ with a focus on how AI affects international relations, information warfare, and the protection of critical infrastructure.
