Azerbaijan implements AI for information security auditing
The State Service for Special Communication and Information Security in Azerbaijan has begun utilizing artificial intelligence to audit internet-accessible information resource systems. Nadir Novruzov, head of the service, announced during a panel at the ADEX 2026 defense exhibition that the scale of state information systems—numbering in the hundreds or thousands—makes manual human auditing insufficient.
The agency is using AI as part of an automation strategy to conduct penetration tests and audits, comparing AI results with human-led assessments to refine the technology.
Novruzov highlighted two primary security concerns regarding AI: the security of AI solutions implemented within government agencies—specifically risks like ‘prompt injection’ and ‘data poisoning’—and the risk of confidential data leaks when employees use public AI tools such as ChatGPT or Claude. The service is currently developing mechanisms to mitigate these risks.
