Azerbaijan digital and AI technological development
Overview
Azerbaijan is expanding its digital infrastructure and technological capabilities through various artificial intelligence and cloud computing initiatives.
Initial efforts focused on broad digital transformation, including the establishment of a Supercomputer Center to support domestic AI development and the integration of digital signatures into public services like gas supply contracts. The government also sought to explore the use of ‘Grok’ AI models through a memorandum of understanding with SpaceXAI to improve the efficiency of public institutions.
Following these advancements, the focus has extended to cybersecurity. The State Service for Special Communication and Information Security has begun employing AI to automate the auditing of internet-accessible information systems, noting that manual auditing is insufficient for the scale of state systems. Officials are also working to mitigate security risks associated with AI, such as ‘prompt injection’, ‘data poisoning’, and potential data leaks from the use of public AI tools.
