Azerbaijan MP commemorates 2020 Patriotic War on Remembrance Day

Member of Parliament Shahin Ismayilov has characterized Remembrance Day as a symbol of national memory, pride, and solidarity. He reflected on the 44-day Patriotic War that began on September 27, 2020, noting that the Azerbaijani Army, under the leadership of Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, defeated Armenian armed forces and liberated significant portions of occupied territories.

Ismayilov criticized the decades-long occupation of Karabakh and East Zangezur, alleging the systematic destruction of cultural and religious heritage during that period. He also noted that the OSCE Minsk Group failed to produce meaningful results or change the status quo over many years. He attributed Azerbaijan's eventual victory to strategic policies, economic growth, and the formation of a modern military force.
