Azerbaijan observes Remembrance Day to honor war martyrs
Azerbaijan observes September 27 as Remembrance Day, a date dedicated to honoring the martyrs who fell during the Patriotic War and battles fought for the nation's territorial integrity.
Member of Parliament Göydəniz Qəhrəmanov stated that the day serves as a sacred memory for the Azerbaijani people and reflects the state's commitment to supporting the families of martyrs and wounded veterans. He noted that the establishment of Remembrance Day via a 2020 decree confirms the national respect for these heroes.
Religious leaders in Azerbaijan also issued a joint statement marking the anniversary of the conflict that began on September 27, 2020. They described the 44-day war as a victory for justice that ended decades of occupation. The leaders credited President Ilham Aliyev, acting as Supreme Commander-in-Chief, for the military success and emphasized that the victory restored the national flag to its ancestral lands.
