Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis adopts declaration for Remembrance Day

The Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan has adopted a declaration marking September 27 as Remembrance Day. The statement commemorates the start of the 44-day Patriotic War in 2020, which led to the restoration of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and the end of nearly 30 years of occupation by Armenia.

Speaker Sahiba Gafarova noted that the victory achieved under the leadership of Supreme Commander Ilham Aliyev opened a new era for the country. She highlighted that the 2023 anti-terror operations further completed the restoration of national sovereignty and the application of the Constitution across all territories. The declaration honors the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation and emphasizes that the military successes have fundamentally changed the military-political realities of the region.
