Azizulhasni Awang seeks renewed support for LA28 Olympic bid

The Malaysian Cycling Federation (PKBM) will submit an official request next week to the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the National Sports Council to re‑enter veteran track cyclist Datuk Azizulhasni Awang into the Road to Gold (RTG) programme ahead of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics. PKBM president Datuk Amarjit Singh Gill said the athlete remains competitive, citing his recent World Cup and Asian results, and argued that his “unfinished mission” warrants full ecosystem support, including funding, sports science and logistics from the Institute of Sports, MSN and RTG.

The federation plans to send the letter after the Asian BMX Championships, urging the government to confirm its backing so Azizulhasni can compete in upcoming World Championships, World Cup series and C‑class races that are crucial for Olympic qualification.
