Azores expands TERINOV science park with 2.8 million euro investment

The Azores region is expanding its technological and strategic footprint through significant infrastructure investments and a focus on its role in transatlantic connectivity.

An investment exceeding 2.8 million euros has been directed toward the expansion of the Terceira Island Science and Technology Park, TERINOV. The project includes the construction of a new building featuring eight new business spaces, meeting rooms, and technical areas, as well as a photovoltaic unit for self-consumption. Regional President José Manuel Bolieiro stated that the expansion aims to attract talent and investment, positioning the Azores as a 'laboratory of the future' for Portugal and the European Union.

Complementing this economic development, regional officials are emphasizing the archipelago's geostrategic importance. Vice-President Artur Lima highlighted the Azores as a vital link between Europe and the Americas, spanning dimensions of land, air, sea, space, and the deep sea. This connectivity is supported by maritime and aerial routes, digital submarine cables, and the strategic importance of the Lajes Base for NATO and European defense.
