Azores inaugurates Quantum LabAzores computing facility

The Azores has inaugurated Quantum LabAzores, an advanced computing facility providing integrated quantum technology and emulators. Located at the Nonagon – Science and Technology Park of São Miguel in Lagoa, the project represents a significant step in positioning the autonomous region within the field of technological innovation.

The Regional Government invested 500,000 euros in the project, which received support from the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR). Artur Lima, Vice-President of the Azores executive, stated that the facility is an investment in people, intended to provide universities, researchers, and local companies with essential tools for scientific intelligence and digital sovereignty.

To complement the new computational capacity, the Regional Science and Technology Fund will soon provide five new doctoral scholarships to bolster human expertise in the region.
