Baby rescued in Paraguay after kidnapping in Brazil

A one-month-old baby has been rescued in Pedro Juan Caballero, Paraguay, following a kidnapping that began in Brazil. The infant was recovered during a joint operation between Brazilian and Paraguayan police forces.

The investigation revealed that a 17-year-old mother was lured to a residence on August 6 under the pretense of a R$ 100 babysitting job arranged via a WhatsApp group. Upon arrival, the teenager and her 12-year-old sister were allegedly threatened and held captive. The mother reported that a woman, identified as Suzilaine da Graça Costa, was accompanied by approximately 10 men at the location.

Police tracked the suspects using mobile phone signals as they attempted to flee toward the border. Authorities believe the motive was not to sell the child, but for the suspect to raise the baby as her own biological daughter. The rescue was supported by the Amber Alert Brasil system. Several individuals were arrested during the operation.
