Babylon Berlin concludes with final season set in 1933
The acclaimed German historical crime series ‘Babylon Berlin’ is concluding with its fifth and final season. Based on the novels by Volker Kutscher, the series follows investigators Gereon Rath and Charlotte Ritter through the turbulent years of the Weimar Republic.
The final eight episodes focus on the critical period between January and March 1933, depicting the rise of the Nazi Party, the appointment of Adolf Hitler as Chancellor, and the Reichstag fire. The season explores the political power struggles and the erosion of democracy during these pivotal weeks.
To mark the series finale, ARD is providing cross-media content, including a documentary titled ‘Babylon Berlin - Die Doku’ to explain the historical context, a podcast, and a video game titled ‘Eine Nacht im Moka Efti’. The final season is available via the ARD Mediathek and will be broadcast on linear television in September.
