Babylon Berlin concludes with fifth season and new documentary

The acclaimed German historical drama series Babylon Berlin has concluded with its fifth season. Set in 1933 during the Nazi seizure of power, the final season explores the dismantling of democratic institutions and the rise of the National Socialist regime.

To complement the series finale, a documentary titled ‘Babylon Berlin - Die Doku’ will air on Das Erste. The documentary examines the historical period between January 30, 1933, and the passage of the Enabling Act on March 23, 1933. It utilizes archival material and animations to depict the experiences of various historical figures, including journalist Gabriele Tergit, communist leader Ernst Thälmann, and financier Hjalmar Schacht, as they navigated the collapse of democracy.
