Babylon Berlin concludes with fifth and final season

The acclaimed German historical drama series ‘Babylon Berlin’ is concluding with its fifth and final season. Set in January 1933, the narrative follows the political upheaval as Adolf Hitler is appointed Reich Chancellor.

Central to the final season's plot is a hunt for Hitler's medical records from his time in a 1918 military hospital, a document that could potentially undermine his political image. The story features protagonists Gereon Rath (Volker Bruch) and Charlotte Ritter (Liv Lisa Fries) as they navigate the rise of the Nazi regime and a series of murders involving war veterans.

Director Tom Tykwer has noted the intensity of filming, including scenes staged at the Hamburg City Hall to replicate a Reichstag plenary session. The final season premiered on ARD in September 2026, with episodes available via the ARD Mediathek and scheduled for free-TV broadcast.
