Babylon Berlin series to conclude with fifth season in 2026

The historical crime drama series ‘Babylon Berlin’ is set to conclude with its fifth and final season. Following uncertainty regarding the show’s future after Sky withdrew from German series production, ARD Degeto announced in June 2024 that the story of Commissioner Gereon Rath and assistant Charlotte Ritter will receive a proper conclusion.

The final season is scheduled to premiere in September 2026. Episodes will be available on the ARD Mediathek starting September 10, with the television broadcast of the first four episodes beginning on Saturday, September 19, 2026.

Set during the final years of the Weimar Republic, the series explores the cultural vibrancy and political instability of Berlin following World War I. It depicts a society navigating economic catastrophe, social liberation, and the rising influence of fascist movements.
