Authorities in Vietnam are intensifying enforcement of traffic regulations, resulting in numerous fines and public notices for violations across several provinces.
In Hanoi, police processed 1,211 cases involving students and parents between September 3 and September 9, 2026. The violations included 1,050 instances of failing to wear helmets and 126 cases of underage driving, totaling over 1 billion VND in fines.
In Bac Ninh, the Traffic Police Department identified 603 speeding violations between August 31 and September 6, 2026, urging owners to settle fines via the VNeTraffic app. Similarly, Hung Yen authorities reported 176 violations, with speeding accounting for over 91% of cases. An Giang province has also released lists of vehicle owners caught by surveillance cameras for various traffic infractions.
Additionally, under Decree 168/2024/NĐ-CP, vehicle owners face significant penalties for illegible license plates. Car drivers may be fined between 20 million and 26 million VND for operating vehicles with plates that are obscured, damaged, or improperly displayed, alongside a 6-point deduction from their driver's license.
