Bac Ninh police seize over 4,700 counterfeit books

Police in Bac Ninh province have initiated a criminal case against Duong Van Trong, born in 1992, for the illegal sale of counterfeit books. The investigation began after authorities noticed suspicious listings on Facebook involving children's thinking books, comics, and skill-building titles.

Upon inspecting Trong's warehouse in Hiep Hoa commune, officials seized 4,723 books across 67 different titles. The total cover value of the seized items is estimated to be between 562 million and 600 million VND. The counterfeit items were branded with the names of several legitimate publishers, including Hong Duc, Kim Dong, Hanoi, Thanh Nien, Lao Dong, and The Gioi.

Authorities determined that the counterfeit books were being purchased cheaply through social media groups and then mixed with genuine products to maximize profits. The seized books have been impounded as investigators continue to clarify the origin and distribution methods of the illegal goods.
