Bac Ninh road upgrade delayed; Ho Chi Minh City launches 89 flood‑prevention projects

In Bac Ninh province, the expansion of Quân Báo road through Thôn Đại Lâm has stalled. The 1.5‑km, VND 24 billion project, which began in early 2026, is only about 40% complete. Deep excavation for the roadway and the removal of wastewater have created a one‑metre‑deep trench and foul odours, forcing dozens of households to park vehicles at distant relatives’ homes and walk to their houses. Local officials acknowledge the delay and cite a contract deadline at the end of October.

Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City authorities have earmarked nearly VND 228 billion from the city’s Disaster Prevention Fund to repair or build 89 flood‑control and landslide‑mitigation structures. The works, spread across 21 wards and communes, aim to safeguard more than 10,000 households and roughly 9,100 ha of land from erosion, inundation and tidal surges. The city will oversee implementation, monitoring progress and ensuring timely financial settlement.
