Baccalaureate Exams Begin in Congo and Tunisia

In the Republic of Congo, the 2026 general baccalaureate session opened on June 2 at the Lycée Chaminade in Brazzaville, overseen by Education Minister Jean‑Luc Mouthou and Science Minister Rigobert Maboundou. The session involves 101,856 candidates across 310 centres, with a strong female presence (about 55%) and a noted imbalance favoring the science‑focused Série D. Officials highlighted the need to encourage more students toward scientific streams and confirmed smooth organisation, including examinations held in Cabinda and Luanda, Angola.

In Tunisia, the main baccalaureate session started on June 3, drawing 162,435 candidates to 5,988 centres nationwide. The Ministry of Education detailed logistical preparations, special accommodations for candidates with visual impairments, extended time provisions, and anti‑fraud measures such as increased supervision and electronic device controls. Economics and management attracted the largest cohort (56,201 candidates), while other streams included sciences, letters, technical, informatics, mathematics and sport.
