Bağcılar District Launches Three-Day Blood Donation Campaign
The Bağcılar District Governorate organized a three‑day blood donation campaign in Bağcılar Meydanı, operating a mobile donation unit in cooperation with the Turkish Red Crescent. District Governor Abdullah Uçgun participated by donating blood and urged residents to give regularly, stating, “If we donate in normal times we will not have to search for blood in emergencies.”
The effort involved seven locations across the district and was promoted by local muhtars, including Selçuk Gedik, who highlighted the constant need for blood due to natural disasters and other emergencies. Volunteers underwent health checks, completed forms, and received a thermos as a thank‑you gift. Organizers emphasized that consistent donations keep blood banks stocked, reducing the urgency of emergency collection.
The campaign attracted strong community response, with many residents donating without personal medical need, reinforcing the message that blood donation is a civic duty and a health‑saving practice.
