Turin woman arrested for attempted murder after striking five-year-old boy

A 24-year-old woman, identified as Camilla D'Alessandro, has been arrested in Turin, Italy, on suspicion of attempted murder and aggravated personal injury after a five-year-old boy was struck by her vehicle.

The incident occurred in the San Donato/Cit Turin area on a Saturday evening. According to reports, the child was walking with his father, sister, and a family friend when the car struck him. The boy's father identified the driver as his ex-partner and alleged that she had also attempted to run him over before the collision occurred.

The child was transported to the Regina Margherita Children's Hospital with abdominal and chest traumas. While his initial prognosis was reserved, medical staff have since stated he is not in life-threatening condition, with a recovery period estimated between 30 and 40 days.

Law enforcement is investigating whether the event was a deliberate act or an accident. The suspect's defense attorney has contested the allegation of a hit-and-run, stating that the driver was stopped shortly after the incident and that the collision could have been accidental.
