Bad Liebenzell fire in Möttlingen triggers massive firefighter response

On the evening of 10 June 2026 a shed in Bad Liebenzell, near Möttlingen in the Calw district of Germany, caught fire, producing a visible smoke column that prompted a large emergency operation. About 100 firefighters from Möttlingen, Bad Liebenzell, Unterhaugstett, Althengstett and Calw, supported by 22 fire vehicles, arrived to combat the blaze.

The structure’s massive construction and its location amid buildings, trees and shrubs hampered direct access, requiring the use of a telescopic mast, a specialised ladder and a telescopic loader to reach the fire from above. A drone was deployed to monitor the situation from the air. After roughly two hours firefighters opened the roof and tackled the main flames, eventually bringing the fire under control. Nearby residential houses were temporarily evacuated and a warning was issued via a public alert app. The incident caused damage estimated at around €350,000, mainly to machinery stored inside the shed, but no injuries were reported.
