Lagos road accidents claim six lives in two separate incidents
Two separate fatal road accidents occurred in Lagos, Nigeria, on Saturday, resulting in multiple deaths.
In the first incident on the Badagry Expressway near Mowo Bus Stop, five adult males died following a head-on collision between a Toyota Camry and an Iveco truck. The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) reported that the crash occurred around 5:16 a.m. Preliminary investigations suggest the accident was caused by over-speeding and reckless driving, which led the Camry driver to lose control and veer into the oncoming truck's lane.
In a second, separate incident at Ijesha, inward Mile 2, a dispatch rider was killed in a collision involving two trucks. LASEMA officials stated that a FAW truck struck an Iveco truck while both drivers were reportedly struggling for the right of way. The impact caused the Iveco truck to rear-end the dispatch rider, who died at the scene.
Emergency responders from LASEMA, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Federal Road Safety Corps attended both scenes to recover victims and clear the roadways.
