Badajoz hospital area fire leads to prison sentences

Two youths have been sentenced to eight months in prison for causing a grass fire near the Hospital Universitario de Badajoz. Following a rapid trial, the individuals admitted to the facts, resulting in a sentence of conformity.

Because the sentence is under two years and the individuals have no prior criminal record, they will not serve time in a penitentiary. The incident occurred in the early hours of a Friday when local police observed a fire and pursued the suspects, who attempted to flee on foot. Firefighters were required to extinguish the flames due to their proximity to residential areas and the hospital.

In a separate incident that same night, an individual was arrested for setting fire to containers on La Violeta Street in Ciudad Jardín. That individual received a one-year prison sentence and has been given 10 days to enter prison voluntarily, as they were already serving a suspended sentence.
