Badajoz prepares observation sites for rare solar eclipse
Badajoz is preparing for a rare solar eclipse on Wednesday, August 12, a phenomenon that has not occurred in Extremadura for over a century. The city has designated two primary observation sites: the historic Fuerte de San Cristóbal and the 360-degree terrace of the Fundación Caja Badajoz at Montesinos 22.
The Fuerte de San Cristóbal will open with special hours from 19:00 to 22:00. The peak of the eclipse is expected to occur between 20:34 and 20:36. Authorities have issued a warning that eclipse glasses will not be distributed, and attendees must bring their own certified protective eyewear to observe the event safely.
