Badalona police to receive Taser pistols for modernization

The Mayor of Badalona, Xavier García Albiol, has announced the integration of Taser pistols into the local police equipment. This measure is part of a modernization plan intended to enhance security and improve response capabilities during high-risk situations.

The new electrical weapons are designed to neutralize aggressors without causing fatal injuries, serving as a less-lethal alternative to firearms. Municipal sources stated that the Tasers will be used under strict protocols and specific training to ensure proportional and controlled application. Albiol defended the decision, stating that “security is not negotiable” and that the city requires a police force that is “prepared, equipped, and respected.”
