BADEA and BDEAC sign 30 million euro loan for CEMAC SMEs

The Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA) and the Development Bank of Central African States (BDEAC) have signed a 30 million euro loan agreement to support the private sector within the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC).

The funding aims to assist small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across the six CEMAC member states: Cameroon, Central African Republic, Congo, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, and Chad. The initiative is intended to bolster investment, employment, and regional trade.

This agreement comes amid a challenging credit environment for regional SMEs. According to data from the Central Bank of Central African States (BEAC), the average debit rate for SME loans rose to 11% in the first quarter of 2026, up from 10.73% the previous year.
