BADEA development partnerships in Africa
Overview
The Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA) has entered into several strategic agreements to support development across the continent.
In the CEMAC region, BADEA and the Development Bank of Central African States (BDEAC) signed a 30 million euro loan agreement to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Cameroon, Central African Republic, Congo, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, and Chad. This funding aims to bolster investment, employment, and regional trade during a period where the average debit rate for SME loans in the region rose to 11% in early 2026.
Additionally, BADEA signed its first official partnership with the African Union (AU) through a Memorandum of Understanding. This collaboration seeks to leverage the expertise of both organizations to improve resource mobilization and coordination, aligning with the objectives of the AU’s Agenda 2063 to promote sustainable economic and social development.
