Baden-Württemberg pharmacists recommend influenza vaccinations
The State Pharmacists' Association of Baden-Württemberg (LAV) is recommending timely influenza vaccinations as the risk of respiratory infections increases with the cooler season. To improve accessibility, the association highlights that many pharmacies offer these vaccinations, providing a quick and uncomplicated alternative for those unable to secure prompt medical appointments.
Friederike Habighorst-Klemm, a board member and patient representative of the LAV, stated that vaccination is one of the most effective measures to protect both individuals and their surroundings from severe illness. Specially trained pharmacists conduct the procedures following strict quality and safety standards, including a personal consultation prior to administration.
The Standing Committee on Vaccination (STIKO) specifically recommends high-dose or adjuvanted vaccines for individuals aged 60 and over. Recommendations also extend to chronically ill persons of all ages and pregnant women from the fourth month of pregnancy.
