Baden-Württemberg public transport crime rates decline

Crime rates in public transportation within Baden-Württemberg have decreased according to recent statistics. Data from the Ministry of Transport indicates that passengers were victims of aggression-related crimes 302 times in 2025, representing a decline of more than ten percent compared to the previous year.

Overall, police recorded 76,779 criminal offenses at stations, in buses, trains, and at stops, which is a decrease of nearly eleven percent compared to 2024. This decline is attributed in part to fewer violations of foreign residency laws and an 18.4 percent drop in fare evasion cases.

Despite the statistical improvement, safety remains a sensitive topic due to high-profile incidents of violence against staff and passengers. In response to ongoing threats against personnel, Deutsche Bahn is considering the use of body cameras for approximately 2,700 station service employees to enhance protection.
