Baden-Württemberg to host second Long Night of Democracy

The second annual ‘Lange Nacht der Demokratie’ (Long Night of Democracy) will take place across more than 63 municipalities in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, on October 2, 2026, the eve of German Unity Day.

In Weingarten, the event features a ‘Code for Democracy’ AI hackathon. Organized by RWU, the City of Weingarten, and other regional educational bodies, the initiative invites youths aged 14 and older to use artificial intelligence tools to develop digital prototypes, such as chatbots, to address societal challenges.

In Leimen, the ‘Alliance for Democracy, Human Rights, and Diversity’ is hosting a diverse program under the motto ‘Together we are strong.’ Activities include family-oriented games, a market of democratic opportunities, and a public discussion titled ‘Have Courage and Stand Up – Church and Democracy’ featuring MP Lars Castellucci and local religious leaders. The Leimen program also includes educational sessions for children regarding municipal council work and portraits of influential women presented by the international literary association Mulieres Legentes.
