BaFin issues warnings on unauthorized platforms and MiCA oversight
Germany’s Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) has issued warnings regarding unauthorized financial services and expressed concerns over future European crypto-asset regulations.
BaFin warned investors against TitanFX.ai and roipax.de, noting that these platforms offer financial, banking, or crypto-asset services without the required legal authorization in Germany. The regulator cautioned that professional-looking websites can be misleading and advised investors to verify providers through official databases before making payments.
Separately, during the European Blockchain Convention, BaFin official Stephan Mögelin raised concerns regarding the potential centralization of Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) oversight. Mögelin suggested that shifting authorization responsibilities to a centralized EU supervisor could increase administrative burdens for firms and reduce the flexibility provided by national regulators, who possess specific knowledge of local markets and business models.
