Bahia audiovisual projects receive awards and new festival launches
The audiovisual sector in Bahia is seeing increased recognition and new opportunities for emerging creators. At the 17th Brasil CineMundi, two projects from Bahia received awards. The film ‘Sol a Pino’, directed by Ana do Carmo and produced by Saturnema Filmes, was selected for the ‘Work in Progress’ section and awarded post-production services from The End. Additionally, Gabriel Freire’s ‘Em Nome do Pai e do Filho’, produced by Movie Ações Audiovisuais, was also recognized.
In southern Bahia, the Pyracena short film festival is launching its first edition in Itabuna. Funded by the PNAB-BA, the competitive and formative showcase is designed specifically for students and recent graduates in communication and audiovisual fields. The festival includes R$ 10,000 in prize money and features the Marlúcia Mendes da Rocha Award, named after a prominent regional communication figure. Applications for the festival are open until October 25.
