Global independent film and audiovisual developments

Overview

The audiovisual and independent film sectors are seeing various developments through awards and festival programming. In Bahia, Brazil, projects such as ‘Sol a Pino’ and ‘Em Nome do Pai e do Filho’ received recognition at the 17th Brasil CineMundi. Additionally, the Pyracena short film festival is launching its inaugural edition in Itabuna to support students and recent graduates.

In the Canary Islands, the sixth edition of the Canary Islands International Independent and Auteur Film Festival (FICINDIE) is taking place throughout October, utilizing a ‘slow cinema’ approach across Tenerife, Gran Canaria, and La Palma.
