Bahia Court Holds First Historic Session Outside Salvador in Ilhéus and Itabuna

The Tribunal de Justiça da Bahia (TJBA) launched the second edition of its itinerant "Justiça em Território – Presença que Transforma" program from 22 to 24 July. The initiative brought a suite of judicial and social services to the cities of Ilhéus and Itabuna in southern Bahia, including legal hearings, health clinics, document issuance, and citizenship assistance. A highlight was the special court’s first ever session held outside the state capital in its 417‑year history, with 28 regional cases heard in Ilhéus. The programme also delivered about 140 REURB property titles to informal urban settlements and organised the "Direito de Saber" project, gathering 800 municipal students to discuss racism, domestic violence and digital child protection laws.

The outreach aims to decentralise access to justice, provide direct support to underserved communities, and foster civic education among youth, marking a significant step toward broader judicial presence in Bahia’s interior.
