Bahia Court of Justice launches Projeto Pertencer for vulnerable communities

The Court of Justice of the State of Bahia (TJBA) is launching ‘Projeto Pertencer’, an initiative designed to coordinate public sector actions within socially vulnerable communities. The project aims to integrate services from the justice system, public security, health, education, and social assistance through a collaborative governance network.

To facilitate this, a Technical Cooperation Agreement will establish a Collaborative Governance Network for Citizen and Restorative Justice. This network includes the State Government, the City of Salvador, the Public Prosecutor's Office, and the Public Defender's Office, with planned participation from universities and civil society. The initiative focuses on using restorative justice and community mediation to provide rights and services without requiring formal judicial demands.

Prior to the official launch, leaders from the TJBA and the Superior Court of Justice (STJ) conducted institutional visits to various communities in the Suburbs of Salvador, including Paripe and São João do Cabrito. These visits were intended to foster dialogue between the Judiciary and vulnerable populations, allowing officials to observe local initiatives and engage directly with residents and cultural agents.
