Bahia Court of Justice modernizes judicial deposit management
The Court of Justice of the State of Bahia (TJBA) has launched the ‘Depósito Seguro’ project to modernize the management of judicial deposits. The initiative aims to increase institutional governance by separating the technological management layer from the financial institutions responsible for holding the funds. By adopting the BankJus solution, originally developed by the TJDFT, the TJBA seeks greater autonomy and reduced technological dependence on single banks.
In a related legal context regarding asset seizure, Brazilian legislation provides protections for certain funds against judicial blocking. Under Article 833 of the Civil Procedure Code, assets such as salaries, pensions, and savings accounts up to 40 minimum wages are considered unattachable. The Sisbajud system, overseen by the National Council of Justice (CNJ), facilitates these judicial orders, but legal mechanisms exist to contest excessive or unlawful seizures.
