Bahia faces extreme heat and low humidity risks

The state of Bahia is expected to face intense heat and extremely low humidity over the next ten days, according to the Institute of Environment and Water Resources (Inema). In parts of central-western Bahia, temperatures may exceed 41 °C, while relative humidity could drop below 15%. This critical condition increases the risks of forest fires and health issues.

The dry weather is expected to persist until the beginning of the second half of October. Between October 10 and 15, most of the state will remain dry with predominantly sunny skies, though isolated and rapid rainfall may occur in the central-east region without significant accumulation.

Increased instability and a possibility of higher rainfall volumes are forecasted for the south, west, and central-west regions starting around October 17. Meteorologists note that the current scenario is influenced by the transition of rainfall regimes and the effects of El Niño, which tends to bring above-average heat to the region.
