Bahia faces extreme UV radiation while Receita Federal releases final tax refunds
The Institute of Environment and Water Resources (Inema) has issued a warning for 18 cities in Bahia, stating that ultraviolet (UV) radiation levels will remain very high or extreme through Sunday. Indices are expected to range between 9 and 12, with Salvador and Feira de Santana reaching extreme levels (11 or higher) toward the end of the week. In cities such as Paulo Afonso, Juazeiro, and Remanso, levels may hit 12. Inema recommends increased sun protection, including sunscreen, hats, and UV-protective eyewear, particularly between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Separately, the Receita Federal has released the final installment of the 2026 income tax refunds. This fourth batch involves the distribution of R$ 1.24 billion to approximately 521,935 taxpayers. The disbursement includes priority groups such as individuals aged 60 to 79, those over 80, teachers, and people with disabilities or serious illnesses.
