Bahia Farm Show draws billions in agribusiness deals and political attention

The 20th edition of the Bahia Farm Show opened on 8 June in Luís Eduardo Magalhães, the largest agribusiness fair in Brazil's North and Northeast. Governor Jerônimo Rodrigues and Vice‑President Geraldo Alckmin inaugurated the event, highlighting new infrastructure and logistics investments and projecting that the fair will generate billions of reais in business throughout the week.

The exhibition gathered producers, technology firms, financiers and researchers to showcase advanced agricultural machinery, inputs and digital solutions. Organisers and officials stressed the fair’s role in strengthening the sector that contributes significantly to Brazil’s GDP and employment.

On 9 June, Senator Flávio Bolsonaro arrived at the fair, meeting producers, entrepreneurs and state deputies. He praised the region’s contribution to the national economy and framed the visit as part of a broader political agenda, referencing upcoming elections and criticism of the current government. His participation added a political dimension to the primarily commercial event.
