Brazil July‑August agri‑fairs and AgroFestival
Entities: Associação dos Produtores de Soja e Milho de Mato Grosso (Aprosoja MT) · Gui Santana · Cuiabá Municipality · Mato Grosso AgroFestival · Juliana Barbosa
Overview
The July‑August fair season in Brazil continued to expand its focus on family‑run producers and agribusiness outreach. On 24 July the inaugural Feira Sabores de Goiás opened at Goiânia’s Paço Municipal, gathering artisans and farmers from twelve municipalities to sell cheeses, yogurts, sweets, meats, breads and crafts. Organisers presented the market as a new model for direct farmer‑consumer sales, with plans for further editions statewide. Earlier, the third Gastronomic and Family Agriculture Fair at Praça Alencastro in Cuiabá (21 July) again featured more than 50 vendors of fresh produce, regional dishes and handmade items, using a municipal app to link buyers directly with producers and to cut intermediaries.
In parallel, Mato Grosso’s agribusiness sector amplified its public outreach. The Associação dos Produtores de Soja e Milho de Mato Grosso launched the Casa do Agro Brasileiro exhibit at Shopping Cidade São Paulo on 25 May, a walk‑through house showing how soy, corn and other crops are embedded in everyday products. Officials highlighted the exhibit’s role in demystifying agriculture for urban audiences. The state’s first AgroFestival was inaugurated on 27 May in Parque Novo Mato Grosso, a three‑day program (7‑9 August) that blends trade booths, cultural shows, religious events and a professional bull‑riding competition, aiming to attract thousands of visitors and promote regional identity.
