Bahia Governor Jerônimo Rodrigues Announces Major Infrastructure and Water Sanitation Investments

On May 5, 2024, Bahia Governor Jerônimo Rodrigues visited Senhor do Bonfim to inaugurate a series of infrastructure projects. The agenda included the opening of a milk processing unit, delivery of 21 milk‑cooling tanks, GPS‑equipped tablets, motorcycles for a local cooperative, an ambulance, kits for health units, equipment for the UPA 24 h, and the new regional aerodrome with a 1,520‑metre runway. Road paving work was also authorized for multiple rural routes, and water‑supply systems were launched for several communities.

The following day in Itaberaba, Rodrigues highlighted the state’s broader push for public‑policy advances, noting that since 2023 the government has invested R$ 164.3 million in 37 water‑and‑sanitation actions in the Chapada Diamantina region. Overall, 195 projects across 13 municipalities have received more than R$ 661 million for health, education, infrastructure, water supply, sanitation and family‑farm support. He emphasized that these investments improve living standards, reduce reliance on water trucks, and foster sustainable rural development.
