Bahia Judiciary launches initiatives for religious freedom and child protection

The Judiciary in Bahia, Brazil, is launching several initiatives to address social rights and protection. In Salvador, the National Council of Justice (CNJ), the Court of Justice of Bahia (TJBA), and the Public Ministry of Bahia (MPBA) held workshops to strengthen mechanisms against religious intolerance. The action included listening to religious leaders to update judicial policies regarding religious freedom and combating racism within religious spaces.

Simultaneously, the TJBA is intensifying efforts to protect children and adolescents in institutional care. The ‘Me Proteja’ project was launched in Feira de Santana to accelerate legal processes and ensure family coexistence for minors. Additionally, the ‘Ser Dindo(a) é Massa’ project offers various sponsorship modalities—affective, service-based, or provider-based—to help children in care build community and emotional bonds.
