Bahia region receives federal civil defense funds and highway paving authorization
The Brazilian Federal Government has authorized the release of R$ 95,940 to the municipality of Condeúba in southwest Bahia. The funds, managed by the National Civil Defense under the Ministry of Integration and Regional Development, are designated for civil defense response actions following a request through the Integrated Information System on Disasters (S2iD). The municipality has 180 days to execute the planned actions and must provide a final accountability report within 30 days of the project's completion.
In a separate regional development move, the Government of Bahia has declared a 248.4-hectare area as a matter of public utility to facilitate the paving of the BA-653 highway. This project will cover 37.5 kilometers between Uruçuca and the Serra Grande district, with an estimated investment of R$ 50,170,590.95. The decree allows the State Secretariat of Infrastructure (Seinfra) to proceed with land expropriations and urgent possession of the area to ensure the 24-month construction timeline is met. The paving is expected to improve rural transport and tourism access in the Atlantic Forest region.
