Baja California hosts 25th October Festival with diverse arts programming
The 25th October Festival: Territorios de Paz has commenced in Baja California, featuring 119 free activities across various disciplines, including dance, theater, music, cinema, literature, and cultural heritage. Organized by the Baja California Ministry of Culture and the Institute of Cultural Services, the event aims to bring art closer to communities of all ages.
In Mexicali, the festival opened at the Teatro del Estado with full houses for the dance performance ‘Tonantzin’ and the comedy ‘Nunca he estado en Dublín’. The dance production, directed by Armando Leal and performed by Teatro Bajo la Lápida, explored Mexican identity through the figure of the Virgin of Guadalupe. The comedy featured actors Silverio Palacios and Mónica Huarte.
Additional programming includes a concert by the Baja California Orchestra, ‘Música para cuerdas’, led by Maestro Armando Pesqueira at CEART Playas de Rosarito. The musical program features works by Samuel Barber and Franz Schubert, alongside an ensemble performance of diverse styles including Cuban dances and pieces by Francis Poulenc.
