Cultural festivals in Baja California regions

Overview

Cultural programming in the Baja California region is expanding through various festivals and performances in October.

In Baja California Sur, the month features the fourth La Toba International Film Festival in Ciudad Insurgentes, Comondú, which includes workshops, academic activities, and mobile cinema screenings. Additionally, the Teatro Juárez in La Paz is hosting a lineup of music, dance, and folklore, including the State Theater Showcase and the Song Festival.

Simultaneously, the 25th October Festival, themed ‘Territorios de Paz’, has commenced in Baja California. Organized by the Baja California Ministry of Culture and the Institute of Cultural Services, the event offers 119 free activities across disciplines such as dance, theater, music, cinema, literature, and cultural heritage.

In Mexicali, the festival has seen high attendance at the Teatro del Estado for the dance production ‘Tonantzin’, directed by Armando Leal, which explores Mexican identity, and the comedy ‘Nunca he estado en Dublín’ featuring Silverio Palacios and Mónica Huarte. An immersive exhibition titled ‘Yo Soy Frida Kahlo’ is also planned for later in the month.

In Playas de Rosarito, programming includes the ‘Música para cuerdas’ concert by the Baja California Orchestra, led by Maestro Armando Pesqueira, featuring works by Samuel Barber and Franz Schubert, as well as various multimedia dance events.
