Baja California Sur reports rise in drug and domestic violence investigations
Baja California Sur has seen an increase in criminal investigations during the first seven months of 2026. According to the Secretariado Ejecutivo del Sistema Nacional de Seguridad Pública (SESNSP), drug-related investigations rose to 776, a 13% increase compared to the same period in 2025. The majority of these cases, approximately 70%, are concentrated in Los Cabos with 556 files, followed by La Paz with 144.
In addition to drug-related crimes, the state reported significant figures regarding domestic violence. During July 2026, 333 investigations for domestic violence were initiated, averaging roughly 10 cases per day. Between January and July 2026, the total number of domestic violence investigations in the state reached 2,103.
