Bajaj Auto plans international launch of its first mass‑market electric motorcycle

Bajaj Auto announced that it is developing its first mass‑market electric motorcycle, with production expected between April 2027 and March 2028. The company indicated that the model will be launched primarily on overseas markets before being offered in India, a departure from its traditional domestic focus. Chief Financial Officer Dinesh Thapar confirmed the timeline during the group’s recent financial results presentation.

The move is part of Bajaj’s broader strategy to expand its electric vehicle portfolio, which already includes the Chetak scooter and plans for electric three‑wheelers and rickshaws. The launch aligns with India’s upcoming EV 2.0 policy, which aims to halt registration of new gasoline two‑wheelers from April 2028, potentially accelerating domestic demand once the model reaches the local market.
