Bajaj Auto to launch first electric motorcycle and unveil new bike lineup by FY28
Bajaj Auto announced that its first electric motorcycle will be launched in the next financial year, expanding its electric two‑wheeler portfolio that already accounts for roughly 30 % of its domestic revenue. The company also disclosed plans to introduce ten new models over the coming six weeks, including two next‑generation Pulsar 125 and 150 motorcycles with updated chassis, LED lighting and connectivity features, as well as a new 125 cc commuter bike that may be branded “Glider.”
During its Q1 FY27 earnings call, Executive Director Rakesh Sharma said, “We are looking at a different brand because the propositions will be different,” referring to the upcoming commuter model. The Glider 125 is expected to be priced around ₹1 lakh and will sit alongside the Pulsar 125 in the brand’s FY28 lineup. To meet rising demand, Bajaj intends to raise its production capacity by about 25 %, increasing annual output from 7.2 million to more than 9 million units through brownfield expansion and a new greenfield plant. These moves aim to strengthen Bajaj’s position in India’s highly competitive 125‑160 cc segment and to solidify its foothold in the fast‑growing electric two‑wheeler market.
