Bakel: Armed robbery at Chinese mining firm leaves three injured

An armed robbery targeted the Chinese mining company Agro Business in the Dioubéba forest, located in Kéniaba within the Bakel department, during the night of August 25-26, 2026.

A group of approximately six masked individuals reportedly stormed the facilities around 10:00 PM and opened fire on employees. Three Chinese workers sustained gunshot wounds and were seriously injured during the assault.

The assailants fled the scene with an estimated 40 million CFA francs and four mobile phones. Local gendarmerie have launched a preliminary investigation and search operations in the surrounding forest area to identify the suspects and recover the stolen assets.
