Bakir Izetbegović vows to safeguard Bosnian genocide memory
President Bakir Izetbegović visited Donji Vakuf ahead of commemorations in Biljane, Srebrenica and Kamičane. He recalled the 1992‑1995 genocide against Bosniaks, emphasizing the need to preserve the culture of remembrance for future generations.
Izetbegović condemned attempts by the entity's authorities to ban the lily symbol and said the disputed law will be challenged before the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He also blamed the current Federation government and Milorad Dodik’s policies for deepening economic hardship and fostering discrimination against Bosniaks in the Republika Srpska.
The president reiterated that the state must remain strong in all sectors to prevent any recurrence of such violence.
